How RRDA works
A single board
RRDA brings finance, enterprise, skills, industry, markets and youth work under one board. Its members are drawn from business, education, local government and civil society in Raparin, and together they set the strategic direction for the region's economy as a whole.
Integration is the point. Where each area has its own budget and committee, the work develops in parallel: training moves away from what employers are hiring for, and finance misses the businesses emerging from the region's workspaces. One board sees the full picture. It aligns the six areas, weighs competing priorities against each other and takes the decision in one place.
The executive team
An executive team turns the board's direction into a program of investment. It manages RRDA's finances and reporting, commissions work directly and through partners, and brings the right expertise to each part of the program.
Delivery takes place across Raparin, in the institutions, businesses and communities RRDA invests in.
Local first
Where a training institute, a youth group or a business in Raparin is able to do the work, RRDA funds and supports it. Where that capacity does not yet exist, RRDA invests in building it within the region. This takes longer, and it builds capability that stays in Raparin.
Specialists from outside the region are engaged where a skill is not yet available locally, with the transfer of that skill to local teams written into their brief.
Accountability
Baselines are established before work begins, so that progress can be demonstrated over time. Targets are agreed with those responsible for delivering them, and reporting is open to everyone with a stake in the region.
RRDA's own performance is assessed on the same basis.
